About me
My name is Odilia Firl (Odie in short), I was born in 1993 and have always loved animals, horses in particular put their spell on me.
To spend more time living this passion of mine I went abroad to work with horses. I am so very grateful for everything I got to experience. Through every experience - good and bad - I got to where I am now.
I am happy to be able to bring my knowledge and abilities to use and help out where I can.

Insight
In 2010 I dropped out of school. I had enough of sitting around all day learning stuff I might never need again. On day I woke up and I knew this was gonna be my very last day of school - ever. I wanted to live - experience life.
So that´s what I did. I spent six months on a farm in Norway where, for the first time ever, I felt like I really got to live. After that I spent one year working on a farm (back in Germany) with horses, ponies, chickens, goats, dogs and cats. At the end of that year I realized I wanted to try something else entirely so I signed up for one year volunteering in a hospital. This would have been one of the best years of my life where I learned a lot and got to grow as a person.
Even when the year of volunteering was officially over I kept working in the hospital. Because I enjoyed it an because I wanted to save up some money to travel to Ireland.
March 2014, touchdown in Dublin - I was so excited for what was to come. I didn´t have any plans on how long I was gonna stay. On "workaway" I had found myself a private yard where I ended up staying 1 1/2 years.
After some time I started looking for paid job options and actually spent about nine months working in customer care before going back to working with horses. So for about one year I then worked for Paddy Quinlan (former Irish show jumper) and in a small racing yard. I spent all of my free time at a horse trekking center where I got to spent countless hours in the saddle, guiding tourists through the mountains. I love thinking back on this time of my life. Out and about riding horses and working all day no matter the weather - days filled with hard work and yet so much simplicity and joy.
At the beginning of 2028 I felt it was time for me to go back home to Germany and be with my family. But for a long time I wanted to spend some time in Sweden so that´s just what I did, I spent three months on a small horse farm before going back home.
Back in Germany I worked in two different yards but they were still too far away from my family. And since there were no job offers with horses around where I wanted to live I took a job as a janitor where I worked one year, followed by one year at a stonemason´s.
2020 I started my business ´cause I wanted to work with horses again. In the beginning it was only something I did besides my part time employment but since July 2023 I run my own business full time.
For many year now I take my camera with me wherever I go. I love taking photos of nature. Besides my Serbian rescue dog horses are my favorite models.
